Lately I remembered how much I love horror movies. Holy shit, I love horror movies.
I keep a tightly-maintained streaming selection, so right now, I only have PRIME and HBO. Don’t underestimate the films I can get to with this combination. It’s just the in-game purchases, that’s how PRIME gets ya. Luckily, for Thanksgiving I was at my parents and I got to take full advantage of their Netflix membership.
Lately, I checked out these films:
- Apostle — interesting if a little gory, don’t not recommend, hard maybe; they did a fairly good/interesting job with the plot, honestly, but the gore may be much for some
- The Ritual (again, it turns out) — a British/norwegian take on that classic, Blair Witch Project, definitely do recommend; not found footage but otherwise echoes Blair Witch sort of ambiance for the first half and then evolves into a fully formed Euro folk horror
- The Menu, with that lovely Anya Taylor-Joy — pretty fairly recommend, especially if you aren’t into gore or are looking for a lighter horror. A poetic ending
Currently re-watching True Blood as well. Man, the first two seasons of that show were extremely solid. I think I’m now into the fourth, the witches season.
If I keep watching horror again, i’ll keep updating the bloggo again. It’s just chronic, this need to log my excursions. I’m sure only the undead are listening.
Good night, my dears —
Elvira
